What Is Space Technology and Why Armenia Is Investing in It
“Armenia must, in the near future, once again have a satellite—of better quality.”
These words from Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan highlight Armenia’s renewed ambition to strengthen its presence in space technology and satellite engineering.
The drive for innovation is not limited to government declarations. The Armenian Innovation Foundation (AIF) has identified aerospace engineeringas one of its strategic priority sectors operating under the guidance of Armenia’s Science and Technology Development Advisory Council. This institutional framework ensures that Armenia’s investment in space technology is not just aspirational but backed by structured research, partnerships, and development initiatives.
Space technology covers technologies related to satellites, rockets, rovers, communication systems, and software that make space exploration and global connectivity possible. It powers systems like space observatories, GPS satellites, space weather forecasting, and secure communications with the deep space, while also opening doors to scientific discovery and innovation.
At CIPR, we see Armenia’s investment in space technology as a strategy for growth. By supporting local education at different levels, research and development, and external collaborations, Armenia is building expertise in satellite engineering, rover technologies, and rocket systems.
Why invest? Because space technology strengthens national security, drives economic opportunity, and inspires future engineers. CIPR’s work across classrooms, laboratories, and industry is making space innovation not a distant dream, but a present achievement.
